I needed something to serve my in-laws. I thought this would be a pretty safe recipe to try. Score! It was a big hit.
This recipe did not disappoint.
I made this delicious chocolate ice cream for a Father’s Day treat for my husband and father-in-law. It was rich and creamy.
Everyone loved it…and being a chocolate lover – it ranks up there as one of my favorite ice cream flavors now.
How to Chop Dark Chocolate:
Chopping chocolate into the right size pieces can sometimes be a bit frustrating.
Dark chocolate is more difficult to chop because it has less milk solids in it.
Prepare Your Chocolate
It’s easier to cut chocolate that is in smaller pieces. So break your chocolate bar a bit before starting to cut it. You can do this by dropping the chocolate on the cutting surface.
Pick the Right Cutting Surface
Hard non-porous cutting surfaces work better for chocolate. It’s a good idea to leave your wooden cutting board in its place and use a granite or plastic cutting board.
Pick the Right Knife
A serrated knife is the best knife to choose from your knife block. Make sure that it is long and sharp.
Position Your Knife Correctly
Put that chocolate that you are chopping close to your knife handle – not close to the end of the knife. This gives you the most power for chopping while exerting the least amount of effort. You can use one hand to hold the knife and you can use your other hand to push on the top blunt side of the knife as you push down to chop.
Serving Tip:
Garnish ice cream with vibrantly colored fruit. I served ours with fresh cherries. It was a perfect combination.
Shaved or finely chopped dark chocolate is also a classy garnish.
